Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Research and Technology (MoRT)/The National Agency for Research and Innovation hosted the 6th Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology at the MoRT, BPPT Building 3rd floor, on Monday (11/11).

Nada Marsudi, the Head Bureau, Cooperation and Public Communication, the MoRT/NARI (Kemristek/BRIN) jointly chaired the meeting with Mr Ruan Xiangping, Senior Counsel, Department of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), People Republic of China (PR China). He led the PRC’s delegation that were coming from Tian Jin Research Institute for Water Transport Engineering , Sugon (super computer), Southwest Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Guangxi S&T Department, China ASEAN Technology Transfer Center (CATTC) and Zhe Jian University. While the Indonesian delegation consisted of representatives from Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), National Institute for Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN), National Standardization Agency (BSN) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Both of the Heads of Delegates (HoD) appreciated the achievements of the joint committees in the last 10 years, especially in the past five years in which both committees played significant roles in High Level Meeting People to People Exchange Mechanisms (HLM PEM 1-3). More than 10 agreements were signed in the fields of scientific and technological cooperation, in the Ministerial and the Institutional level.

Amongst of the cooperations are :

1. Joint Laboratories in the fields of Biotechnology (BPPT), High Temperature Gas cooled Reactor (nuclear energy for safety purposes) BATAN, Technology Transfer (LIPI).

2. Other mutual benefit cooperation were also reported in the meeting.

Those were on :

a. Port construction and disaster management/mitigation (ITB).

b. Space technology and application (LAPAN).

C. Health and medicine (including herbal medicine) (LIPI).

The future cooperation especially on technologies in 4th Industrial Revolution were also discussed. Those are related with the High Performance Computers, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, etc.

At the end of the meeting both delegates committed to maintain the existing collaboration and to explore more on the future cooperations in the future, especially that the year of 2020 will mark the 70 years of Indonesia China Bilateral Relation.

The meeting was closed by a spectacular dinner in one of the awesome Indonesian cuisine restaurant, Tugu Kunstring.
