The Courtesy Call of HE Mr. Osama Mohammed Abdullah Alshuaibi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Indonesia to HE Minister Prof Mohamad Nasir, Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
The meeting was conducted in order to follow up the bilateral program of cooperation on scientific and higher education, between the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (MoRTHE) and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education.
HE Ambassador Osama Mohamed Abdullah Alshuaibi appreciated a prompt action by the Indonesian MoRTHE, to follow up the cooperation program that was signed during the state visit of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to Indonesia on March 1, 2017. He appreciated the plan of HE Minister Nasir to conduct a working visit to Saudia Arabia in 2017 very soon, for implementing the joint research cooperation among others on food and agriculture, and medical sciences.
HE Minister Nasir also commented on this proposals and adding some research areas which are energy and engineering (mining and petroleum), space technology (satellite), and some areas that can be collaborated further.
Director General Muhammad Dimyati positively responded to the proposed bilateral satellite cooperation, as the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) and other Indonesian Universities may interest to explore the cooperation further.
Meanwhile, Director General Ali Ghufron Mukti showed his interest in implementing cooperations in health issue, as he recognized both Indonesian and Saudi Arabian have competencies in health research and academic program of cooperation that could be explored further.
HE Minister Nasir and HE Ambassador Mr Osama Mohammed Abdullah Alshuaibi, both committed to execute the bilateral cooperation by establishing the joint commision steering committee members that will identify more specific collaboration in the areas of scientific, technology, and higher education.
Accompanying HE Minister Nasir were also Mr. Abdul Wahid Maktub, Minister’s Special Appointee for Cooperation and Institutional Relations, Nada Marsudi, Suryo Boediono, and Nova Febriyani.
