Surabaya – Skills Test on Joint Selection for State Universities Admission (SBMPTN) is a certain test for students who want to take Arts and Sports majors. This test is carried out  after the SBMPTN written test.

Skills and abilities in Arts and Sports field can not be measured only by a written  test as well as  grade in school subjects. In 2016 SBMPTN, to enter Arts and Sports majors, students are assessed through written test  combined with the skills test practices.Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Menristekdikti), Mohamad Nasir, observed the skills test  implementation on 2016 SBMPTN at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), on Wednesday, (1/6).

The observation started by reviewing the skill test  for Sport major. Students were required to perform a medical tests before taking the skills test. Nasir suggested to re-evaluate the medical tests in order to avoid costs which burden the students.

“The most important thing is we get good quality recourses in order to fulfil the established standards,” said Nasir.

Nasir also added if the students pass the test but not qualified in medical test, the Rector of the university might suggest the students to be transferred to another major.

After observed the Sports major skills test, Nasir observed the art of dance, design, and photography. Nasir hopes each university has the same standard.

“(the standard) must be created by the experts. A standardized score must be set,” highlighted Nasir.

Hopefully the standardized score can be evaluated soon, thus can be implemented in SBMPTN 2017. (flh,rh,wn/bkkp)
